Yahoo Acquires To New Startups – GhostBird and Rondee
Last month, Yahoo purchased Tumblr for $1.1 billion. And, the purchasing spree continues for the company with two more acquisitions – Rondee and GhostBird.
Yahoo announced yesterday that it acquired GhostBird, an iOS-photo editing app developer, and Rondee, which is an initiative conference calling service.
Rondee posted on its website that the company was joining the small business team at Yahoo and would work with the company to ensure its goal of assisting small businesses to be successful online. No financial terms were made available.
New users are no longer available to sign up for Rondee’s free conference calling service. After Aug. 12, current customers are no longer going to be able to sign in and make new conference calls or get their previous calls’ information.
Rondee, in an effort to reduce the impact customers feel, has arranged it so that the user login ID and on-demand pins will work with Instant Conference, which was a previous competitor of the company.
Yahoo announced by Twitter that it had acquired GhostBird, the app maker of PhotoForge2 and KitCam to boost the Flickr-photo sharing service. Deal terms were not made available either.
Yahoo joked that people can soon see their mobile photos in a different light.
GhostBird’s apps can no longer be downloaded in the App Store. Previous users can use the apps in present versions but no updates will be available when future iOs versions are developed.
GhostBird said the company was enthusiastic of bringing their technology to Flickr and its team to ensure photos stay beautiful.
The latest acquisition comes after the company fully revamped Flickr, giving all users of the service one terabyte of free storage.
