The UAE economy, especially in Dubai, is being driven by its travel and tourism industry. It supports the thousands and thousands of jobs that significantly contributes to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

The country’s goal is to bring more tourists in, and heavily invest in tourist-attracting ventures. The initiative is to create more businesses and jobs in country.

In 2014, the travel and tourism industry in UAE had 291,000 people or 5.3 percent of its whole employment base. That’s based on information from the World Economic Forum 2015 Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index report.

The WED study believes the industry will see about 5,300 jobs (1.8 percent more than the year before).

The Dubai nation brings in a huge number of tourists to the country each year. In 2014, 13.2 million international visitors came to the country, and it’s looking to be on track for 20 million visitors by the beginning of next decade.

UAE has largely been affected by the partisan turmoil that’s been happening in the other areas of the Middle East, which is another reason it’s benefiting from its “safe” designation status.

The Business Monitor International forecast anticipates the country’s tourism industry will increase 7.6 percent from one year to the next with a 9.3 percent rise in tourism receipts. The report anticipates a cross of $20 billion this year with incoming and outgoing travels anticipated to reach 16.5 million and 2.6 million.

According to the World Economic Forum, the UAE is considered the best country for tourists followed by the Qatar, Bahrain, Morocco and Saudi Arabia.
