Missing NASCAR Vehicle Found, But Not In Time For Race

NASCAR driver Travis Kvapil’s No. 44 car was missing Friday after somebody thieved the hauler that contained the vehicle while it was parked at a hotel parking lot located on the outskirts of Atlanta.

Unfortunately, the No. 44 Team Xtreme had to remove itself from the weekend Atlanta race since the car wasn’t located before qualification.

ESPN.com said there is some good news to the story: Gwinnett County police have located the vehicle in the suburb of Loganville. Police may have been notified about the abandoned vehicle from a random person who happened to come across it on the side of the road. The car didn’t appear to have any damage. That’s the one bit of good news.

Still, there are two pieces of bad news to this story: the trailer that had an approximately $100,000 engine in it is still missing. The second piece of bad news is that the No. 44 team and Kvapil have already withdrawn from the race, so they’re not eligible to race.

Despite all that, the race team is extremely happy to have their prized possession back… and in tip-top shape, especially with the amount of work that went into it. They’re definitely breathing a sigh of relief for that bit of good news.
