Uncle Ben’s Recall Affects Infused 5 and 25-Pound Rice Products
A recall involving Uncle Ben’s infused rice products 5 and 25 pound bags is in effect over allergy-like reactions.
The company, Mars Foodservices, produces the bags of rice said the recall isn’t affecting those Uncle Ben’s brand products sold in grocery stores – cup or bag, boxed or ready-to-heat items – because these are produced separately.
According to Mars Foodservices, people have complained of getting rashes and experiencing flushing after eating the Mexican-Flavor Infused Rice. The company said it chosen to remove every flavor of the infused riced products from its supply chain.
The company said the sales associates, brokers and distributors network began letting customers know about the recall and trying to get the product back. According to the company, several websites and wholesale stores have sold a limited amount of the product.
Mars Foodservices said a voluntary recall is issued to make sure people in possession of the products should not eat or serve it and should take it back to where they bought it.
The Food and Drug Administration is investigating the issue, and the company is cooperating with them fully.
Uncle Ben’s infused rice comes in several other flavors – garlic and butter, pilaf, roasted chicken, saffron cheese and Spanish.
