Man Dies After Allegedly Being Pushed In Front

A 61-year-old unnamed man was killed Sunday morning as he stood with his wife at the Bronx subway platform. An unknown assailant, who the victim was apparently fighting with, allegedly pushed him into the path of an oncoming train where he was killed instantly.

According to police, the assailant took off toward a local bus and has still not been found.

Surveillance video of the incident has not been seen yet, but police said witness accounts have determined the man did not accidentally fall onto the tracks or jump in front of the train on his own.

The subway motorman said the man’s body was suddenly at the front of the train as it came into  the 167th Street station.

Police said the assailant got into a nearby bus – BX35.

Detectives have yet to find anyone who witnessed the moment the victim fell onto the tracks of the southbound D train that arrived around 8:45 a.m. No video has been found either, said police.

36-year-old Alfredo Brown was in the station on his way to Sunday morning church when heard two men yelling at each other. He said he heard the commotion from them.

The unnamed victim’s wife was not injured in the scuffle. However, the 59-year-old woman was transported to the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center to be observed.

In December 2012, a subway rider was killed after a female shoved a man onto the tracks and right into the path of a train in Queens. Erika Menendez was charged with a hate crime murder in the man’s death, who was an Indian immigrant.
