Keurig Is Recalling 7M Mini Plus Brewing Systems

After receiving nearly 200 complaints regarding its Mini Plus brewing system, Keurig has issued a recall for seven million of the device produced from 2009 to 2014.

The recall, according to Keurig, is being done after users reported they were sprayed with hot liquid. The company said nearly half of the complaints were for burns that occurred because of the spraying hot liquid.

The U.S. Customer Safety Commission said the faulty brewer may overheat and spray water. And, the Health Canadian said the company gathered 17 minor burnt incidents. According to Suzanne DuLong with Keurig, its working to learn how many reports in both countries is related to the recall issue.

Keurig said it’s asking people to send them their contact information in order for them to get a repair kit, which they feel will solve the problem. The affected models are the models B31 and K10. The ID number for machines is underneath it.

At this time, Keurig advises users not to use the device to make more than two cups at a time.

This version was sold through the Internet for $100 and in various retailers in the U.S. and Canada. 600,000 devices were sold in Canada and 6.6 million of them were sold in the U.S. The models were sold in an array of colors – black, white, red, purple, yellow, mauve, aqua blue, cobalt blue, emerald, Poinciana, bayberry, platinum or orchid. Each brewing machine, which is 11 inches long, can brew three in sizes – six, eight or 10 ounces.

The affected machines were made in Vermont at the Keurig Green Mountain Inc. To attain the free repair kit, customers need to call the company at 844-255-7886.
