Jordan Selling Highland Park Home For $29M

Basketball Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan has posted his suburban mansion on the market for $29 million. Currently the owner of Charlotte Bobcats, his Highland Park family home is the highest priced home listing in Chicago.

Built during the mid-1990s and redone in 2009, this 56,000 square foot isolated compound has nine bedroom, four-half baths, 15-complete baths and five fireplaces between both the main home and the guesthouse. It includes the following things: outdoor tennis court, deep water pond, putting green, three garages that can hold up to 15 cars and are climate-controlled and an indoor/outdoor entertaining and pool area.

The home also has an attached indoor basketball complex, which was finished in 2001. The basketball facility has a regulation size basketball court with hardwood floors that are cushioned, sound system that provides the proper acoustics and adjustable baskets and backboards. It also has its own parking area.

According to Katherine Chez Malkin, listing broker with Baird & Warner Real Estate, the target buyer is a person who loves their privacy and wants luxury. She said because it’s Jordan’s main residence makes it all that much more special and unique.

Chez Malkin said the basketball great has put his main home on the market for a number of reasons including the fact that he is downsizing, as he has many residences at the moment. Jordan lived in the home with former wife Juanita and their three children. In 2006, the couple divorced and Juanita purchased another mansion in the north side of Chicago.

Public records show that the home’s property taxes in 2010 were $165,224.
