Unofficial: Favre Will Be Inducted Into Green Bay Packers Hall Of Fame

Brett Favre, quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, may soon be given a high honor.

According to the Green Bay Press Gazette, the Packers are expected to announce his induction into their Hall of Fame, retiring his No. 4 jersey.

The paper stipulates the induction will take place in 2015 with the uniform-retirement occasion happening in another year as well.

Favre took to his website to confirm the induction. He said he looks forward to reveling and partaking the special moment with all the Green Bay Packers’ fans. Green Bay Packers’ brass and team will make a formal announcement on Monday during a media event that takes place on the Lambeau Field. Favre is set to participate in the event by phone.

Favre’s induction was possibly delayed because of the abrasiveness that occurred between the team, the team’s fan base and Favre after he ended his career in Green Bay.

Favre had a NFL-record of 297 consecutive games 253 of those games were with the Packers from 1992 to 2007. In 2008, he played for the New York Jets and then played two years with the Minnesota Vikings, a team that are considered the Packers’ rivals.

Favre, who is an 11-time Pro Bowl competitor, holds several NFL records:

  • 508 – Touchdown passes
  • 603 – Pass completions
  • 10,169 – Pass attempts
  • 71,838 – Passing yards

He’s the record holder for two other categories:

  • Most fumbles – 166
  • Most times sacked – 525

Favre started his football career playing in four games with the Atlanta Falcons. In 1991, he was made a second-round draft pick.
