Star Confirms Nickelodeon Hit Show Sam & Cat Is Cancelled

Nickelodeon’s hit show Sam & Cat has been officially cancelled. That’s the word from actress Ariana Grande, who played Cat.

The show, which was supposed to have 40 episodes in its first season, was prematurely cancelled and will only have 36 episodes. The series finale is set for July 17.

The 21-year-old Grande confirmed the truth on her Twitter account, and wrote an emotional-filled accolade, giving thanks to Nickelodeon for being her family, the cast and crew she worked with every day for the last five years. Grande said she doesn’t think there’s any other professional or pleasant crew within Hollywood.

Back in March, the filming of the show went on break after photos of the show’s other star Jennette McCurdy were leaked online. A Nickelodeon representative had said the racy pictures were not the reason for the production’s halt. Grande also denied the other rumor that circulated about the two stars and their differences in salaries.

Grande also thanked Dan Schneider, who originated both Victorious and iCarly where both Cat and Sam were brought to life, saying he allowed her to play a beautiful character that she hid behind for a long time.

Grande said when she was younger, a lot of people loved Cat so she pretended to be like her. The actress said it took her quite some time to show people that she was not a lot of like her Cat character.

Grande said she admires her alter-ego, who has never lost her sense of wonder. She said as people grow up, they become jaded and worried how people will perceive them. Cat never changed, Grande said.

She said many people see the character as just another dumb kids’ show character. However, she sees her alter-ego has bolder, tougher and smarter than anyone else.

Although the show is ending for the two young ladies, Grande said she’s happy to have been a part of the success. She said she’ll never take for granted the lessons learned and memories made.
