Saints QB Hits More Milestones

Drew Brees has two more historical milestones to share with his fans and kids.

The quarterback for the New Orleans Saints became the NFL’s fourth player to throw 500 career touchdown passes Oct. 21 during the Baltimore Ravens/New Orleans Saints game. He also became the third quarterback to beat all 32 NFL teams. It was his fifth try against the Ravens, and the team won 24-23.

Winning certainly wasn’t easy, and it happened after the standout kicker for the Baltimore team Justin Tucker missed the extra point that would have tied the game up and put it into overtime.

The 39-year-old Brees threw just 212 yards, and two touchdown passes, but he was able to rally the Saints to two fourth-quarter touchdown drives that brought them from a 17-7 deficit. Before Sunday’s game, the Ravens had stopped any team from scoring in the second half of the game all season.

This is the 44th comeback of Brees’ 18-year career in the game.

Brees joined the 500-club already occupied by Tom Brady, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning with his one-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin Watson during the second quarter. In the fourth quarter, he threw Michael Thomas the ball, making another touchdown pass.

The quarterback said it would be great if he could finally cross the Ravens off his to-do list after going against them three times as a Saints and once as a San Diego Chargers player. He became the third quarterback to beat all the NFL teams – 32 of them.

Of course, the New Orleans Saints have some tough games coming up. In Week 8, they face the Minnesota Vikings for Sunday Night Football. In week 9, they host the Los Angeles Rams. According to the ESPN Football Power Index, the Saints went into Week 7 with the toughest NFL schedule to finish out.
