Personal Lawyer: U.S. President Not Concerned With Russian Investigation Outcome

U.S. President Donald Trump appears nonchalant about the possibility of what his former campaign manager and former national security advisor may say in their impending court testimonies to special counsel Robert Mueller.

According to the Trump’s personal attorney Ty Cobb, what Paul Manafort or Michael Flynn said to Mueller is of no consequence to the White House or the president’s campaign. Cobb said the president isn’t concerned with what happens to them or the impact they could make.

Mueller has been investigating the Trump campaign and its potential collusion with Russia throughout the 2016 presidential campaign. He summoned both men to testify in front of a grand jury.

Federal prosecutors who are working with Mueller informed Manafort that he could expect an indictment. Manafort was a key target of the Russian investigation for not informing Congress of his business dealings with the Ukraine.

Cobb said Trump holds no ill will toward Manafort and respects him a great deal. Trump has repeatedly said he appreciates the work Manafort did for three months while on the campaign.

Trump, Cobb said, personally likes Flynn but knows that they need to have their own path when it comes to special counsel. Flynn has been fired after he failed to inform Congress of his meetings with Sergey Kislyak, a former Russian ambassador to the U.S.

The president’s comments have been made after several sources have confirmed the investigation has led to its first charges. Many news media outlets are reporting that a person could be arrested as soon as Monday.
