Gandolfini’s Final Film “Enough Said” In Theaters September 20
The last film “Enough Said” that the late Gandolfini starred in will be in theaters September 20. The premiere will be shown earlier in the same month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The announcement was made Friday by the film’s distribution company, Fox Searchlight Pictures.
The film is a romantic comedy that also stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus. In the film, Gandolfini, who plays as Albert, and Dreyfus, who plays as Eva, are divorced, middle-aged, and falling in love with each other.
Gandolfini’s role in the film was a change for the late 51-year old actor from his best-known role as Tony Soprano in the HBO television series “The Sopranos.” In this series, Gandolfini plays a family man with troubles because he is also balancing his other responsibility as an organized crime boss.
Nicole Holofcener is the director and writer of the film “Enough Said.” The director noted that Gandolfini fit into his new comedy role well.
Gandolfini shows a more sensitive and humorous side of him in the film. It is a stark contrast to his portrayal as an ill-tempered, violent, and moody boss of a New Jersey mob in “The Sopranos.”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is best-known for her starring roles in the television series “Veep” and “Seinfeld.” She has received three Emmy Awards.
In the film, Eva (Dreyfus) starts out as a divorced woman who is sad about her situation until she meets and becomes friends with Marianne (played by Catherine Keener).
Marianne, who is also divorced, has a much brighter outlook and is full of confidence. It rubs off on Eva and she decides to date Albert (Gandolfini). The plot takes a humorous twist when it is discovered by Eva that Albert is actually Marianne’s ex-husband.
Eva tries to keep her new relationship hidden from Marianne and it is from there that things get complicated.
