Clooney Does Not Accept Daily Mail’s Apology For Falsified Article

Despite the Daily Mail’s website apology to George Clooney about the recent story it published in regards to his fiancé’s marriage objecting to their union, Clooney has refused to accept it.

In a statement in the USA Today, he said The Mail knew full well the story was false and went ahead and printed it. He went on to say that the Daily Mail is the worst type of tabloid, making things up to harm of its readers.

The tabloid apologized for the distress it caused by the running of the story but never denied that it was made up. Clooney did thank the Daily Mail for apologizing but said he would never accept it.

Clooney said what separates everything else the Mail fabricates is that this one can be proven as a lie. He first noted his dissatisfaction with the paper, when he accused them of being irresponsible for its claim that Amal’s mother Baria Alamuddin did not like the union on the basis of religious grounds.

The report, which was first published on Monday on the Internet then in print on Tuesday said in its revised edition that close family friends were the ones saying Alamuddin was not happy with the marriage and that her daughter “could do better”.

According to the Mail Online, the story came from a trusted, reputable freelance journalist, who based her article on conversations with a long-time contact.

Clooney said, in regards to this statement, the problem is none of it’s true. He said they either lied beforehand or are lying currently.

Clooney said the one constant when it comes to a person or company being caught in their wrongdoing is that the cover-up is typically worse.
