Body Found By Dive Team Could Be Missing North Carolina 3-Year-Old

North Carolina authorities feel they may have found the body of three-year-old Mariah Woods who has been missing for over five days.

According to Shelley Lynch with the Charlotte FBI, a dive team in Pender County came across a body. The medical examiner will confirm the identity.

Pender County is located south of Onslow County where little Mariah lives with her mother and her mother’s live-in boyfriend. He was charged Saturday in association with the little girl’s disappearance.

According to the sheriff’s office in Onslow Count, 32-year-old Earl Kimrey faces a slew of charges in connection with the case including obstruction of justice, concealing a death, etc. He is at the Onslow County Detention Center on more than $1 million bond.

Authorities describe Kimrey as the mother’s live-in boyfriend who had reported her missing Monday morning after she put her to bed in their Jacksonville home on Sunday night. The sheriff’s office said it gathered a plethora of evidence during the investigation and feel Mariah is no longer alive.

Stanley Meador, an agent with the FBI, asked anyone with a surveillance camera where the little girl lives to share their video with the authorities. Meador said it was too late to save the little girl and the investigation is now a homicide case.

According to the arrest warrant, Kimrey obstructed justice when he removed the little girl’s body from the scene of her death, concealing the fact that she was dead from unnatural causes and secretly disposing of her body.

An Amber Alert was issued Monday morning, and more than 700 volunteers came out Friday to look for the little girl.

The FBI was looking over the items taken during the search including about 95,000 pounds of trash from a local landfill.

Woods’ mother pleaded on camera for her daughter’s return, sayings the long brown hair and blue eyes girl was her everything.

Authorities said Mariah’s family is cooperating with investigators and more charges could be filed.

In the arrest warrant, Kimrey is charged with felony larceny, second-degree burglary and possession of stolen property after he allegedly stole two dressers from a home in Jacksonville late Sunday night/early Monday morning.
